Ingredients

  • ½ cup caster sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 2 eggs 
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla essence

How to make :

Classic Baked Caramel Custard Recipe

  1. In a pan, add ½ cup castor sugar along with 1 tbsp water and stir continuously until caramelised. Turn off the heat and keep this caramel sauce aside.
  2. In another bowl, beat 2 eggs and add 3 tbsp powdered sugar along with 1 cup of milk.
  3. Add 1 tbsp vanilla essence and mix well to form the custard batter.
  4. Grease an oven tray with butter or oil and place your silicone moulds in it.
  5. First, add a thin layer of caramel sauce followed by the custard batter.
  6. Fill up the tray with water to create a water bath to ensure even textures.
  7. Bake at 150°C in a preheated oven for 15 mins.
  8. Cool, demould and it’s ready to serve!

Special Tip

Refrigerate the caramel custard for a few hours or overnight to enhance the flavour and texture before serving.
