Ingredients
- 1 cup moong dal
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 ½ cup of water
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tsp saffron
- 4 tbsp Britannia ghee
- ¼ cup khoya
- 2 tbsp chopped nuts
How to make :
Moong Dal Halwa Recipe: Warmth In Every Bite
- Before you begin, soak your moong dal in water for at least an hour or two.
- Next, start making the sugar syrup. Take 1½ cup water and ¾ cup sugar and add it to a saucepan.
- Add the cardamom powder into the saucepan and let the syrup cook.
- Once it starts to boil, add your saffron and set it aside.
- Make the moong dal into a paste with the help of your food processor.
- In another saucepan, add Britannia ghee but before it heats up, add the moong dal paste and mix.
- Keep mixing until there is a slight change in colour and the mix starts bubbling up.
- Add your chopped nuts and mix them in with the moong dal.
- Once that is done, you can add your sugar syrup into the saucepan.
- Stir the entire mixture until the sugar syrup is completely absorbed.
- After that, add your khoya and a sprinkle of cardamom powder.
- Mix well and your moong dal halwa is ready
Special Tip
If you want to extract a better colour from the saffron, you can place the saffron on ice and let it melt at room temperature. The colour extracted tends to be much brighter than adding it directly.
